Okay here goes…I finally find myself in blog-land. There are a variety of choices open to me: ranting, raving, libel, and perhaps even some sentient prose. I will probably be indulging in all of the above.

This blog is Manal’s brainchild (for future reference, please complain to her about my musings). Over the last few years, I have been whining on about not having the nerve to send my poetry to a publisher. I have been stuck on the content of my introductory cover, a laughable excuse for not doing anything. Manal’s suggestion: blog it.  My response: no, I would rather not expose myself to public ridicule. So we decided on something a little different. Our secret dream that dared not be spoken was to be published authors (on a technicality, it still has not been spoken – this does not count). Reality and average writing skills got in the way. Whilst we have not been in the creative throes of writing the “next great American novel” (why American?), we have been writing to each other for over a decade. We write to share a joke, we write to discuss our personal challenges, we write to discuss travel plans, and most often we write to each other because we can. Because words have helped connect us over time and space, across continents and oceans. Besides, we need to vent.

Is this going to be an exercise in pretentiousness? I sincerely hope not. Do I have a plan? As anyone who knows me can verify, I haven’t the slightest clue where this is going. Then again, does anyone?
